House Bill 2091 was recently introduced by Denielle Walker, which proposes the legalization of recreational cannabis in West Virginia. More specifically, the bill aims to legalize possession of one ounce or marijuana.
The bill would also legalize private consumption of recreational cannabis products, in one’s own home, for example. Driving under the influence of cannabis and cannabis use on government property would remain illegal if the bill passes.
House Bill 2091 also proposes a 15% tax on cannabis retailers when they purchase from a cultivation facility, meaning that recreational cannabis will be significantly more expensive than medical products.
