The West Virginia medical cannabis program is expanding with a new dispensary location arriving in Parkersburg, West Virginia.
Patients with a valid West Virginia medical marijuana card can visit the new location and browse a variety of products available, with several selections of cannabis flower and vape cartridges currently on the shelves.
In this article, we’ll cover everything you need to know about Parkersburg’s latest medical marijuana dispensary!
Verdant Creations Opens Dispensary in Parkersburg, West Virginia
Verdant Creations Dispensary Location
Parkersburg, West Virginia isn’t a particularly large town, with a population just under 32,000.
Parkersburg is close to the Ohio/West Virginia border, however, and the neighboring towns are somewhat farther from bigger cities like Charleston or Huntington.
That’s probably why Verdant Creations chose the location, which is at 1255 1/2 Gihon Rd, Parkersburg, WV 26101.
The new dispensary location adds a variety of strains to choose from, with cannabis flower and vape cartridges being the most commonly available product at the moment.
What Products are Available at Verdant Creations Dispensary?
Right now, you’ll be able to choose from cannabis flower or vape cartridges at the new dispensary, though there are plans to increase inventory as it becomes available.
There are plenty of strains to choose from with cannabis flower though, with popular options from the Seed & Strain brand like Mint Chocolate Chip and Jack Herer.
There are also more than a handful of trendy strains available in vape cartridges as well, with options like Blue Dream, Maui Wowie, and Grape Ape.
You may have to wait awhile for products like distillate, wax, or tinctures, though, because right now they’re in high demand and limited supply. While cultivators continue to ramp up production dispensary shelves will change frequently, so be sure to check the websites frequently to see current inventory.
Where is All The Cannabis Inventory in West Virginia?
A Little Over Half of West Virginia Cannabis Cultivators Currently Online
West Virginia’s medical marijuana program allows for 10 growers who have all received their permits for growing.
Currently, 6 out of the 10 cultivators in West Virginia are operational, while the others are still in earlier stages of facility productions.
Getting cultivation facilities online is a giant and long-winded process, requiring local permits, appropriate real estate, massive construction operations and a hellish amount of paperwork.
With only 6 cultivators online, dispensaries are getting sparse inventory as it becomes available, making the supply of available cannabis products fairly limited. As more cultivators come online and begin processing their harvests, a larger flow of cannabis products will become available, though how long it will take each cultivator to begin operations is up to anyone’s best guess.
9 Dispensaries Online, Two Processors, 6 Cultivators
There are 9 dispensaries online in West Virginia and 2 processors as well, so there’s plenty of room to breathe for the medical cannabis program.
Patients applying for medical marijuana cards are also increasing at a pretty fast rate, with over 7,000 applicants approved and an 81% increase in medical marijuana cards issued since January of this year.
As more patients register and more dispensaries come online, cultivators will have a bigger challenge in getting bulk cannabis products to stores, though we expect to see several more cultivators come online this year.
For West Virginia medical marijuana patients, that could mean better access to cannabis products consistently, as well as potentially lower prices, though ultimately this will be up to the supply chain.
