We all know the classic staple. . . the edible brownie. The marijuana-infused brownie is the beloved and popular version of edibles that most people think of when discussing edibles. A cult film back in the 1960’s named “I Love You, Alice B. Toklas” assisted in moving brownie edibles to the top of everyone’s list. It is still a cultural staple to this day.
Last week, I shared with you a recipe for making your own cannabutter at home in your own kitchen. Today, we are going to use that recipe in order to make these delicious marijuana brownies!
At West Virginia Marijuana Card, we not only want to provide you with your medical marijuana card in the simplest and easiest way but we also want to give you tips and tricks on how to consume medical marijuana in the best way for you.

How to Make Marijuana Brownies in Your Own Kitchen
Brownie Ingredients:
½ cup unsalted butter & cannabutter
This ratio is based on your personal dosage preference. I suggest using a ¼ cup of unsalted butter and a ¼ cup of a medium strength cannabutter.
3 ounces unsweetened chocolate
You can use a chocolate bar for this step and chop it into pieces. This will yield about ½ a cup of chopped chocolate.
¾ cup all purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
¼ teaspoon salt
½ cup sugar
½ cup brown sugar
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
½ cup semisweet chocolate chips
Frosting Ingredients:
6 tablespoon unsalted, softened butter
¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
⅛ teaspoon salt
1 ¼ cup powdered sugar
½ teaspoon of vanilla extract
3-5 tablespoon of milk
Can also be a milk alternative such as almond or oat milk.
Brownie Instructions:
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
While the oven is preheating, lightly grease an 8 x 8 inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper so that the brownies don’t stick.
Melt the chopped chocolate and the butter in a glass bowl over a simmering pot of water and stir frequently to make sure the mix is melted and does not burn. Once the mix is melted, let it cool.
In a separate bowl, combine together flour, salt and baking powder then set to the side.
Add the sugar and brown sugar into the melted chocolate mix and whisk. Then add the eggs, vanilla extract and combine together.
Once combined, add the flour mixture and mix together.
Stir the chocolate chips into the mixture.
Pour the finished batter into the baking pan and bake for about 25-35 minutes.
You can make sure it is cooked fully by sticking a toothpick or a knife into the center and seeing if it comes out mostly clean. There will be some chocolate on it but it shouldn’t be fully wet.
Once the brownies are fully cooked, remove them from the oven and let cool before removing them from the pan.
Frosting Instructions:
With a mixer, combine together butter, cocoa powder and salt until light and fluffy in a medium sized bowl.
Add powdered sugar and combine.
Add vanilla extract and milk to the mixture.
Start with 3 tbs. and then add up to 5 tbs. to get the frosting texture just right. It should be thin enough to spend but not runny.
Once the brownies have cooled, add the frosting evenly over the edible brownies.
Enjoy!
Things to Remember When Make Edibles at Home
Keep in mind that when making your own edible brownies at home, the dosage can vary since you have made them yourself. You can avoid over-consumption by starting off low and slow.
We highly suggest that you begin with a very small amount of a brownie, wait at least an hour to feel the effects. If the effects are not strong enough for you, it is best to wait until the next day to try a little more and repeat the process until you find the dose that is perfect for you!
Don’t feel like you have to eat them all before they go bad either. You can store them in the freezer so you can have your edibles at any time in the future!
